We have developed a new type of solar hot water heater for emergencies, camping, and other outdoor remote locations. This simple portable heater heats faster, hotter and can pasteurizes water for drinking.

The user simply fills the heater, sets it in the sun and walks away. The heater doesn’t require alignment, adjustment, use electricity, have batteries, or produce green house gases. All you need is water and sun light.

This 2 liter capacity heater is available in two different models.

The Sun Dome II is a high temperature unit that typically heats water to 180F on a sunny day (about 100 F above the air temperature). This hot water can be used for the same things as the hot water made by the Sun Dome I unit, along with one other very important use, it will pasteurize water for drinking.

Fresh water from a lake or stream may look clean and clear, but it may contain dangerous water born pathogens such as parasites, bacteria, and viruses. These dangerous water born pathogens are killed when water is heated to 149 F or higher. That is what the Sun Dome II can do.

Only you need to be sure the water was heated to 149 F or higher. For that reason we are including a water pasteurizing indicator (WAPI) with this heater. The WAPI is basically a thermometer with a memory that tells you when 149 F has been reached.

For the Near Future

We are starting by selling these units in the United States, but we want to expand to the developing world. The poor countries of the world are where people don’t have clean or hot water. This is where the real need is, and this is what we built these units for. So if you would like to contribute to this goal or purchase an extra unit for people who don’t have hot water or drinkable water we would appreciate your help and we thank you.

For the farther out future

Also in the future we plan on using this unique and relatively inexpensive solar heating approach to make a larger sized plumbed solar water heater for houses, a portable solar food cooker, and a solar still that will produce distilled water. We already know how to make these heaters we just don’t have the resources.
